Meru’s 802.11n Advantage
Now that the 802.11n standard is closer to being final, organizations are seeking the best ways to obtain its increased throughput, range, reliability and other benefits, without scrapping their current wireless LAN setup or completely overhauling both their wired and wireless LANs. Significantly, Meru’s fourth-generation WLAN design provides for an easier migration, plus allows enterprises to obtain maximum capabilities enabled by the 802.11n standard.
Meru’s unique architecture allows for a single-channel span, eliminating the need for complex coverage and channel planning and re-planning when deploying an 802.11n solution. It also allows administrators to more easily compensate for coverage holes and delivers predictable, higher performance in the face of fluctuating data rates that are created by the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology used by 802.11n networks. With the unique channel-layering capability, Meru’s Mobile SCALE solution delivers the industry’s highest wireless capacity throughout a pervasive wireless LAN deployment.
Meru’s 802.11n product suite consists of:

The Meru AP300 family of dual-radio 802.11 a/b/g/n access points (APs)represents the next generation of wireless edge devices, providing superior, reliable support for high-capacity data and toll-quality voice. It is the only 802.11n AP in the industry that is capable of effectively supporting 40MHz channel bonds in the 2.4GHz spectrum in the presence of legacy 802.11. |

The Meru MC5000 Chassis is a modular, telco-grade, multi-gigabit, 5-blade chassis controller for up to 1000 APs (per chassis). The MC5000 was designed to efficiently handle the increased bandwidth requirements of 11n. |

The Meru 3 Tier Traffic Distribution System (3TDS), a flexible and immensely scalable system that is independent of underlying network backbone topology, will be available later this year as a software option to the Meru System Director operating system. 3TDS is an innovative new architecture for 802.11n-based Wi-Fi networks that eliminates the conflict between mobility and scale, by completely separating the control and data traffic, network wide. This will significantly reduce costs of a 802.11n migration by enabling enterprises to meet the heavy throughput demands of 802.11n without making expensive upgrades to the wired Ethernet switching backbone. |
Collectively, the new Meru products represent the industry’s most complete 802.11n solution from air to core, addressing enterprise needs for over-the-air coverage, capacity, performance, compatibility and wired infrastructure scalability.
