Almost overnight, mobile devices and applications have changed the way we live and work—and created new challenges for IT departments.

In response to both the benefits of mobility and the needs of mobile device users, enterprises of all kinds are rapidly transitioning from wired to wireless communication. Today they need more powerful wireless networks, ones that will deliver consistent, high-quality service for many more mobile devices, visiting network users, and high-bandwidth applications. These networks must be easy to deploy and manage, cost-effective to implement, and able to grow along with the enterprise—even when the enterprise operates from many different locations.

These are the problems Meru Networks solves. Meru's Virtualized Wireless LAN solution is specifically designed to handle the density and device diversity of today’s distributed mobile enterprises. Scalability, service quality, manageability, and cost-effectiveness are built in.

Solution portfolio

Meru solutions are developed specifically for midsized to large organizations where volumes of traffic and essential applications depend on wireless networks. Our single-channel, virtualized architecture frees the 802.11 standard to deliver more than ever before. The network can intelligently manage each device’s connections, pool and allocate RF resources, and continuously optimize network operations.

The integrated Meru Virtualized Wireless LAN solution includes:

  • Operating system: More than just an operating system, Meru System Director is the intelligence that orchestrates hardware, software, and RF resources for reliable, scalable, predictable Wi-Fi service.
  • Management software: Meru offers a complete range of wireless network management tools, from advanced management applications for predicting and simplifying WLAN operations to complete security management to a solution for managing guests and automating device connections.
  • Controllers: Meru controllers deliver five times the capacity of other controllers, without taking up more data-center space and power.
  • Virtual controllers: Mobility controllers and appliances give customers flexibility in how they deploy their wireless networks. These virtual components operate on x86 computing platforms in VMware environments, and can operate alongside other enterprise applications on the same platform.
  • Access points: Meru access points are built with mobility in mind and engineered to avoid the costly and complex overlay networks other architectures require.
  • Appliances: The Meru Services Appliance family delivers comprehensive management of 802.11 networks and the highest level of security.
