SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT
The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing the Cost Accounting function including managing inventory held at multiple locations, standard costing process, RMA and warranty process, excess and obsolete process and acting as a liaison to the Operations team. This position will have complete ownership of the function and will support the development of a world-class, scalable, global accounting team.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Manage the overall inventory and COGS accounting to cover inventory held at contract manufacturer, fulfillment house and distributors
- Prepare inventory rollforward, reconcile and balance sub inventories to GL
- Manage, review and update standard costs
- Review new parts and costing attributes before releasing parts as transactable,
- Review all inventory transactions prior to posting to GL
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies in costing, warranty, support, evaluation products, RMA etc.
- Perform periodic cost variances including warranty, PPV and E&O analysis
- Liaise with and provide support to the Operations team
- Co-lead, conduct and monitor the periodic physical inventory with the Operations team
- Reengineer current procedures to streamline inventory and COGS reporting activities and to improve and validate accuracy in reporting
- Develop and maintain policies to ensure accurate inventory and COGS accounting and reliable internal controls
- Additional responsibilities, duties, and projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Solid understanding of US GAAP, specially in the area of inventory and COGS
- Prior experience of ownership/management of the function
- Strong process re-engineering and workflow management skills
- High-energy, positive attitude
- Has a “can-do” attitude, excellent follow-through and strong work ethic
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously
- Be detail-oriented and strive for accuracy in reporting
- Possess strong verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to cope with multiple deadlines and work under pressure
- Strong team player willing to ‘pitch in’ to meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of Oracle
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance plus a minimum of 7 years of related experience
