Dr. Vaduvur Bharghavan is a credited innovator in the field of wireless networking and mobile computing. His achievements include significant contributions towards the development of wireless medium access protocols and quality of service architectures for wireless data networks. Bharghavan's research has produced results that have gained commercial attention and have been implemented by Fortune 500 companies in the networking industry today.

He has published over 75 technical papers in IEEE/ACM conferences and journals, served on the editorial board of flagship academic journals such as IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and IEEE Computer Networks Journal, guest edited issues in the ACM Journal of Mobile Networks and Applications, co-chaired ACM Mobicom 2002, and served on the program committees of prominent IEEE and ACM networking conferences such as SIGCOMM, MOBICOM, and INFOCOM. His scholastic accomplishments include his role as Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is recognized by the National Science Foundation (NSF) where he received the coveted NSF Young Investigator Award in 1997 (now the Early Career Development (CAREER) Award).

Prior to co-founding Meru Networks, Bharghavan delivered a flagship carrier-class product to three global wireless carriers as founder of Bytemobile Inc. At this mobile communications company, he alternated positions as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and VP Engineering. Up to that time, Bharghavan held the position of Chief Technology Officer at Equinox Solutions.

Bharghavan holds MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the department of EECS at the University of California at Berkeley and a B.Tech Degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras.
