Our Commitment to Privacy
Meru Networks, Inc. (“Meru”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use your personal information, and how you can control our use of that information.

Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy covers the information Meru gathers when you directly access Meru’s Web site, when you indirectly access our Web site through Web sites that display or link to our Web site, or when you participate in the programs mentioned below. This Privacy Policy applies to all information collected by or submitted to Meru, including personal information.  

Collection of Personal Information Generally
As used in this policy, personal information includes information that may be used to identify you or another individual, such as a name, address, email address, phone number, title, and company. We collect this information, along with information regarding the products you have purchased from us, or have expressed interest in, for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. This information may be gathered when you visit the Meru Web site or otherwise interact with us.

Use of Information Generally
Meru uses the information collected for a number of general purposes, including: to fulfill your requests for products, services or information; to deliver requested goods and updates; to inform you about current product developments and software updates; to provide other information from us or from our business partners that we believe will be of interest to you; to improve the content and general administration of our Web site;  to increase our responsiveness to customers and potential customers; and to improve our products and services. We may also use your information to send you, or to have our business partners send you, direct marketing information or to contact you for market research. We do not rent, sell or lease personal information to other companies or individuals.

Collection and Use of Information Obtained through Programs

User Registration
Meru collects personal information from you when you register to create a Meru account. As part of the registration process, you are required to provide certain personal information, including your name, company name, email address, title, location, and phone number, industry, role and purchasing time frame. Meru may use the information collected for several general purposes, including: to inform you about products, seminars and services Meru believes may be of interest to you; to contact you if Meru needs to obtain or provide additional information; and to verify the accuracy of Meru’s records.

Meru Web Pages and Portals
Access to certain Meru Web pages, including Meru’s partner and support portals and pages, require a log in and a password and may further require the creation of a personal account, which requires the provision of your name, address, e-mail and phone number, as well as identifying whether you are associated with a reseller or end user, and in some cases, identifying the products used and/or deployed by your company. The use of Meru’s partner and support portals and pages, and the information or programs downloadable from those pages, may be governed by an agreement between Meru and your employer as the end user of a Meru product. The information obtained in connection with the creation of a personal account may be used by Meru to: identify end users of Meru products and to associate specific products (including models and serial numbers) with those end users; communicate with you regarding the provision of product support; verify compliance with the end user agreement; issue license keys; track software downloaded from Meru’s partner and support portals and pages; and to track usage of other applications available on Meru Web pages. The information obtained about you may be used to communicate with you about supporting your Meru product and may also be used for the marketing purposes described below. In addition, if you use and visit our Web site, we may collect information about your browser and the Web site you last visited.

Marketing Programs
Meru collects personal information from you when you provide such information in connection with participation in one of our marketing programs, or when you respond to requests for information in connection with our live chat or other sales tools on our Web site. Meru may use this information, as well as information obtained through user registration, Meru’s partner and support portal pages, and through publicly available sources, to communicate with you in connection with various marketing programs, including advertising, direct marketing, seminars and events, and Web-based programs, including Webcasts and podcasts.

Employment Applications and Employee Data
You may submit personal information through use of our Web site to be considered for employment at Meru or a subsidiary or affiliate. Such information includes your name, your address, your phone number, your email address, job preferences, experience, desired salary, relocation preferences, work authorization, security clearance, education, job skills and other information contained on your resume or curriculum vitae (CV). Meru uses such information solely for consideration of your candidacy for employment, to communicate with you and to generate related correspondence, including offer letters and employment agreements.
Meru currently uses, and may in the future use, a third party provider to host the software and storage system that collects and stores data submitted by employment applicants, and uses a third party provider to process personal data for payroll and other employment purposes. The collection and storage of your personal data by any such third party provider is governed by the privacy policy of that provider.
Your submission of personal information or a resume through our Web site constitutes your consent to the collection, storage and use of that information, as described above.

Web Site Tracking, Cookies, and Web Analytics
We use third party tools to track your activity on our Web site in order to collect information. We use web analytics services provided by LeadLander (http://www.leadlander.com/privacy.asp) and Google (http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/) to help us analyze how visitors use the site. These services may use cookies to collect information for analysis.  LeadLander may identify you personally based on links you have clicked in emails or information you have submitted in online Web forms that may be associated with LeadLander cookies.

We also use standard technologies, which may include cookies and similar technologies, to collect and track information about how you use our Web site and to record certain information. For example, we may collect and/or log Internet protocol addresses, Internet domain names, the Web browser and operating system used to access our Web site, the files visited, the time spent in each file, and the time and date of each visit.  We may collect these through the use of log files and Web beacons that could enable us to track your activity and relate it to your email address. In addition, if you have registered with us for certain marketing programs, we can link your activity to the user profile created when you initially register with us and which is updated on subsequent visits.

Cookies are files that can be sent from a Web site via your browser to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Thereafter, when you visit a Web site, a message is sent back to the Web server by the browser accessing the Web site. You may elect not to accept cookies by changing the designated settings on your Web browser. However, not utilizing cookies may prevent you from using certain functions and features of Web sites, including the Meru Web site.  The information collected from the use of cookies is used and analyzed to improve our Web site, such as by gaining a better understanding of your interests and requirements regarding our Web site. Cookies may be linked to your personal information, such as your email address or password. You can set your browser to notify you when you are sent a cookie, giving you the opportunity to decide whether or not to accept it. 

Information Collected and Changes to this Privacy Policy
By providing Meru with your personal information, you consent to the collection, storage, processing, use and disclosure of that information as provided in this Privacy Policy.  By accepting cookies, you consent to the processing of data in the manner and for the purpose set out in this Privacy Policy.  You may elect not to provide such information to Meru, but then you may be unable to use certain Meru services or obtain certain information. Meru may change this Privacy Policy from time to time and without notice. If Meru changes this Privacy Policy, it will publish the revised Privacy Policy on this Web page.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Disclosure to Third Parties
Meru may hire vendor companies to provide services on its behalf, including, but not limited to, packaging and delivery, sending postal and electronic mail, delivery of marketing programs, providing technical support, hosting Web sites, hosting seminars, and processing event registrations. Meru may disclose customer and prospect information to such third parties for the purposes of fulfillment, support, analysis or audit by such third parties.

Meru may rely on its channel partners, such as distributors and resellers, to fulfill product and information requests, and to provide customers and prospective customers with information about Meru and its products. It may provide your information to those channel partners to enable them to contact you.

Meru may engage in joint marketing activities and events with other manufacturers and solution providers, and may provide your information to such parties solely for the purpose of promoting or performing the activity or event.

Meru may license, sell or otherwise transfer its technology or business, or a portion thereof, to third parties and, in connection with or as part of such transfer or proposed transfer, it may disclose customer and prospect data to the transferee.

Meru’s Web site contains links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by us. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any Web site to which you link.

Disclosure to Affiliated Entities
Because Meru is a global company, your personal information may be shared with other Meru offices or subsidiaries in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and elsewhere. The data protection laws in these countries may be more or less extensive than laws in the country in which you are located. However, Meru and each of its offices and subsidiaries are governed by this Privacy Policy and will use your personal information only as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Disclosure for Compliance
Meru may also disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (1) comply with legal requirements or with legal process served on Meru or this Web site; (2) protect and defend the rights or property of Meru and this Web site; (3) enforce its agreements with you, or (4) act in urgent circumstances to protect personal safety or the public.

Children and Privacy
Meru’s Web site and products are not intended to be used by children. Meru does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.

Security of Personal Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against theft, loss, or misuse. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or storage can be guaranteed to be totally secure. As a result, while we endeavor to protect your personal information, we cannot warrant the security of any information you submit to us. You remain responsible for protecting your user name and passwords and for the security of information in transit to us over the Internet.

Unsubscribing From Future Communications
You can unsubscribe from future marketing communications by following the directions at the bottom of our promotional emails. Should you for any reason continue to receive unsolicited or undesired communications from Meru after seeking to unsubscribe, please forward the communication to privacy@merunetworks.com for further attention.

Updating Your Personal Information
You can update your personal information maintained by our sales and marketing organization by logging into your account at www.merunetworks.com and modifying your personal information. Should you need to update any other information, please forward the details to privacy@merunetworks.com.

Accessing Your Personal Information
You are entitled to access the personal information that Meru holds relating to you. Email your request to privacy@merunetworks.com. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Meru reserves the right to assess an administrative fee for such access.
