Access Points
A key component of the Meru Wireless LAN System, Meru Access Points deliver unsurpassed Wi-Fi performance in conjunction with Meru Wireless LAN Controllers. Representing a shift to the fourth generation WLAN architecture using coordinated, intelligent Access Points at the edge, the Meru System Director OS delivers the only Wi-Fi certified infrastructure that handles toll-quality wireless VoIP and high-capacity data on a single infrastructure with no compromises.
Benefits in Brief:
- Single and Dual 802.11 a/b/g/n access points with the new AP300 family.
- Dual 802.11b/g and 802.11a software programmable radios
- Simultaneously support 802.11b, 802.11g , 802.11a and 802.11n clients devices
- Dramatically improve 802.11g performance in mixed 802.11b/g environments using the Meru Air Traffic Control™ technology.
- Channel Planning is a thing of the past, layer channels on top of each other to gain more capacity while lowering operations costs
- True Plug and play deployment, plug in the POE power to the AP, and the AP self configures; no planning or staging needed. Also, fill coverage holes in the wireless network by just plugging in the AP.
- More wireless coverage possible with fewer Access Points.
- Access points capable of wireless backhaul connectivity for Mesh.

Microcell Channel Plan
- Channel planning is cumbersome with Microcell architecture, and not very reliable
- Automated channel planning tools are rarely recommended or used
- Penalty for mistakes is high
- Filling coverage requires a new channel plan
Meru’s Single Channel Plan
- Simplest coverage planning with near zero-penalty for making planning mistakes via single channel span/Virtual Cell technology
- Meru’s Virtual Cell technology makes the entire coverage area look like a single cell for the mobile device
- APs do not operate as stand-alone wireless Ethernet hubs; instead, they operate as a coordinated system of antennas, maximizing parallelism in transmission while minimizing co-channel interference
