“With our many old, thick-walled buildings, we would have needed to deploy three APs from other vendors to get the same coverage we can get with one Meru AP.”

E(z)RF Network Manager

Screens

E(z)RF Network Manager is an intelligent and comprehensive management system for Meru's 802.11 networks. It provides centralized management through RF visualization, wireless performance dashboards and fault management for enterprise wireless networks of all sizes. Representing a fundamentally new approach to WLAN management, it offers instant access to real-time and cumulative performance metrics covering either individual clients and access points or the network as a whole.

Meru's E(z)RF Network Manager uses continuous event recording, data mining and a knowledge-based inference engine to reduce troubleshooting time – and user downtime – from days to minutes. It is the first wireless LAN management system to record every wireless protocol interaction between the client and network rather than merely gathering aggregate statistics. With the stable RF environment provided by Meru's Virtual Cell technology, the system allows network managers to "rewind" the WLAN, recreating past event sequences to quickly pinpoint the causes of a problem long after it has occurred.

The system automatically correlates across all recorded events to make accurate inferences about issues before they become problems that affect users. With E(z)RF Network Manager, administrators can track data such as signal quality, channel utilization and packet loss rate. Helpdesks can chart an individual station's complete connection history based on MAC address or username, viewing its throughput, airtime usage and motion through the network.

Running on Meru's Service Appliance hardware, E(z)RF offers plug-and-play deployment with no software installation necessary. With onboard 250GB RAID, it scales to allow management of up to 25,000 access points and hundreds of controllers across multiple geographic regions. From a single console, users can rapidly drill down and view activity details at each level of the infrastructure: controllers, access points and individual wireless client devices.

Key Features

Rapid drill down

E(z)RF Network Manager makes it easy to access network performance data at all levels, whether it's the entire network or a single application. Custom views and reports match the disparate needs of helpdesk staff, network managers and CIOs. A few mouse clicks take users from an at-a-glance view of the entire network to a complete 802.11 state change history of an individual client.

Recreate controller state

With a detailed history of every connection stored, the software makes it easy to rewind the network state to any point in the past few days, understanding the precise conditions that lead to any issue.

Easy troubleshooting

With automated diagnostic tools, user issues are easily correlated to network events and troubleshooting time is reduced from days to minutes. The network spends less time as a drain on resources and more time as a productive asset.

Anywhere, anytime access

Take control of the network from anywhere with E(z)RF OnTheGo, a smartphone app that gives access to critical network management data alongside E(z)RF's powerful tools to diagnose and repair faults – whether connected over the wireless LAN itself or a cellular connection on the other side of the world.
