Enterprise

  • Meru Networks Enables the World's Largest All-Wireless Enterprise
Osaka Gas had a vision to create the ultimate "address-free" office environment, where employeescould work anytime, anywhere with their wireless laptops. Osaka Gas realized, however, that true organization-wide efficiency could not be achieved through data access alone. To truly impact the speed of business communications, employees also needed telephony on-the-go.

Healthcare

  • Meru Networks Leads the Industry in Providing Wireless Access to Mission
Critical Applications in High-Density Healthcare Environments at the Sun Health Healthcare Network

Based in Phoenix, Arizona, the Sun Health Healthcare Network provides care through two hospitals, a nursing school and a rehabilitation facility. Faced with outdated systems, a crucial need for reliable communication for doctors and staff, and a goal to deploy emerging technology to better serve its patients, Sun Health needed to upgrade it's wireless system to a next-generation, pervasive Wireless LAN (WLAN).
  • St. John's Hospital Implements Wireless VoIP and Reaps Positive ROI in Less than 1 Year
St. John's Hospital realized the advantages wireless mobility could provide to caregivers and other hospital staff many years ago. An early investment in 802.11b allowed case managers to enter patient information into the electronic medical record system. Using laptops, patient information could be entered directly, providing immediate updates to the patient record for other medical staff as well as reducing errors formerly due to transcription of written records. After seeing the dramatic improvement in just this one area, the IT administrators realized that a more pervasive wireless LAN that could support not just data, but also voice applications would provide even greater benefits.
  • St. John's Hospital Enhances Patient Care With an Avaya and Meru Wireless Communications System
  • St. Agnes Hospital Puts the Patient First by Combining the Most Advanced Medicine with the Most Advanced Wireless LAN
St. Agnes has a long history of leadership in wireless network deployment to improve patient care. Even before the availability of Wi-Fi and the ratification of the IEEE 802.11 standard, they were one of the first hospitals to implement a wireless LAN. The vision for the St. Agnes IT and networking infrastructure has been driven by William Greskovich, VP and CIO. "It began almost 9 years ago when we decided to move to a Microsoft Windows based client server architecture. What was really driving that decision was the value of the internet and a ubiquitous approach to computing."
  • University of Miami Medical Center Takes Patient Care to the Next Level with the Meru WLAN System
As the only academic medical center in South Florida, the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami serves more than five million people, and it has earned international acclaim for research, clinical care, and biomedical innovations. The UM Miller School of Medicine has 770 faculty physicians and a total of 6,000 employees. In addition to the 76- acre complex of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, the school operates clinical facilities at the Miami Veterans Administration Medical Center, five primary care centers throughout Miami-Dade County, and a half-dozen area hospitals and clinics in cities like West Palm Beach, Naples, and Deerfield Beach.

Higher Education

  • Meru Deploys the World's Fastest Wireless LAN at Morrisville State College
With its legacy wireless infrastructure reaching end-of-life, Morrisville State College faced a major decision—deploy an 802.11a/b/g network or leap-frog legacy standards to deploy the latest Wi-Fi solution based on 802.11n.

Retail & Hospitality

  • Distributor Banks on Meru to Assure No Missed Phone Calls
The lifeblood of fast-paced businesses like Anthony Marano Company in Chicago is real-time voice communications. In fact, a single missed phone call guarantees missed revenue for the 58-year-old fruits and vegetables distributor. The company deployed Meru's Wireless LAN for Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence and T-Mobile's Unified Mobile Access (UMA)-based dual-mode Wi-Fi/cellular service. The Meru single-channel virtual cell architecture allows employees to now reliably receive and generate calls while in motion, which hadn't been possible before. Also, with the Meru WLAN architecture, the smartphone's battery life now lasts an entire workday.

  • Hyatt Regency Osaka Deploys Hotel-Wide Wireless VoIP System: New System Rivals Wired Dial-Tone Quality
Hyatt faced two problems that required a solution. First, Internet access from guest rooms needed to be improved from the slow dial-up only access. Second, Hotel staff needed a better communication device than the pocket pagers they had been carrying. Initially, Hyatt considered installing a wired broadband service to each room and installing a Handy System (PHS) for its hotel staff. Deploying two independent solutions, however, was not economically feasible.

  • Retailer's Wireless Growth Requires Contention Solution
When Pacific Sunwear moved to new offices in Anaheim, Calif., in 2001 because of continued company growth, the company decided to implement wireless LANs in both the 180,000-square-foot corporate offices and in the adjoining 360,000-square-foot distribution center. Ron Ehlers, the retailer's vice president of information services, went with what were then state-of-the-art wireless LANs, one with about 16 access points from Cisco Systems in the corporate offices and one with 23 access points from Symbol Technologies in the distribution center.
